happy weekend – diy paper garland pinwheels

Posted on Friday, March 26, 2010 in art, diy, inspiration, interior design

well kids, i thought today would never come. it has been the longest week hasn’t it? so i leave you with a project to do this weekend, evil-designs first homemade diy.

being a designer i’m fond of paper, and yesterday i had about 20 min to play with it. i always have a folder of bookmarks of things i would like to try and i guess today the planets lined up and the skys opened and i was able to have some down time to do mindless work. i found this cool diy. i found a more efficient way of doing it so i thought i’d share.

here we go. sorry for the crappy photos, only phone camera with me today.

so you start off with paper, colors up to you, i prefer earthy tones.

crinkle those bad boys up. kind of time consuming, but it beats a design crisis.

when done with the entire strip – my favorite thing other than glue, double sided tape – a lot less messy. take a thin strip (usually cut in thirds) place it on one end (as you see in the photo above).

put the adjacent ends together forming a circle. kind of looks like a reese’s cup wrapper.

here is where my stuff deviates from the other tutorials out there….

other tutorials glue to hold the pinwheel flat. i have no patience for glue….take some double sided tape – the number 2 of the 1/3 and stick it on one part of what will be the interior. flatten that baby out and tape adjacently so you form a brace on the pinwheel. flip over and do the same so it has support on both sides. if you followed my aloof directions and did it right you would get this:

and then you can do a garland (which i had no string) so i made it a pretty flower….strange, but pretty flower.

whaalaaaa – my first actual diy…hope you enjoy.

have a fun safe weekend!!!! see ya monday

twest mural

Posted on Thursday, March 25, 2010 in art, clients, design, diy, interior design

more client work! just finished the t-west girl down at the local pub. normally we don’t do murals because of their time consuming nature, however, this was an exception. based on the t-shirts we did not too long ago, there she is overlooking the pool table. I hope she doesn’t get hit on too much :)

good weekend happy monday – a missed week

Posted on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in design, diy, drool, good weekend, happy monday, house + home, inspiration

holy cow does time fly. so sorry about the no posting since oh, last monday. i have been enjoying the warmer weather that has graced our presence. i remember sitting outside saturday in the sun thinking how completely polar opposite this saturday was to the previous, you know, with the 31 inches of white stuff, no power, and the non stop shoveling in hopes to see civilization again. *shudder* very content with this warm wave we are having. so with my apologies in order, lets move on to some cool things. evil designs has been very busy and we have much to show you in the near future. also, keep checking back because we will be selling some evil-merchandise soon. till then, here is in hopes of warmer weather and planning out new projects for the sun.

good weekend

Posted on Friday, February 12, 2010 in design, diy, good weekend

tgif. so happy to see that one go – that means one less week of winter to have to deal with! :) it has been a trying week at best. ramming our creative heads in to walls, fighting technological demons that are vinyl cutters, slicing digits with dull blades – we welcome the weekend. so in lieu of the commercial holiday that is valentines day – i leave you with a really cool diy (and i’m sad that i have never seen this site before today.)

Posted on Thursday, February 11, 2010 in design, diy

i hope you all managed to dig yourself out of the little snow storm we had. granted it was  a lot lighter than anticipated, but its still white and wet and slippery.

today we have a project i’m set to do soon – perhaps this weekend if work slows down. how cute? and functional! tutorial and templates at the link.

happy monday/tuesday – again.

Posted on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 in diy, happy monday

seems that i am a busy girl on mondays, so here would be a happy monday/tuesday post…. :) also the 100th post! yippee!

So in light of all this economic recovery stuff I have been reading a lot of diy blogs. I enjoy making my own stuff, there is a sense of accomplishment (most of the time, and the remainder is frustration and a load of colorful words). I did a couple projects over the holiday – (i’d say holiday break, but I don’t get off) so on holiday nights or stolen hours I created a couple cool things – again I hope to post them here soon…my camera just sucks and anytime I want to take a photo, I’m tempted to toss it in the fish pond which is partially frozen because everything in the photo is sharp…no manual options here kodak…ARGH! maybe i need to loosen my standards. any diddle, i have been making these dilly beans…so yummy, easy to make and the packaging is cute. so until i get over that my camera keeps everything in focus, i give you these from d*s which remind me of mine…

blasted camera.
