yesterday was a bit of a strange day. usually i try not to get personal on this blog since i guarantee half of you do not give a doodle what goes on in the life of me, however i feel the need to share this. below is a photo that caught my favor and was the definitive sign that something was up.

Figs, Ginger Syrup and Crushed Pistachio Pavlova

i have a strong appreciation for food and photography, and when both are put together – tre manific! but this photo is what made me go hmmm….so que back to yesterday morning. listening to wqxr as i normally do getting my dose of classical music. generally its a sampling of music i am not familiar with, you know 460 years of it and a bazillion artists putting in their 2 cents, the odds of hearing something you know are slim.

as i am working, i find my ex-ballerina toes dancing in my chair (never happened before) on several occasions (4 to be specific) yesterday to previous dances i had done in the past 20 years. the odds? should have played the lotto. so i get a break in the day to go blog hunting and clear my brain of kerning and color to see the above picture. i ask myself, what is that? what kind of food is pavlova? so i wiki. “Pavlova is a meringue-based dessert named after the Russian ballet dancer Ánna Pávlova.” Again, the odds? To boot, I owned a pair of Pavlova’s used pointe shoes when I was a child. then my horoscope said do something and turn it into art. signs from outside forces, synchronicity perhaps? or just randomness…who knows. i just thought it was cool and felt the need to share.

holy shmoley, what a weekend. us lucky northeastern dwellers got smacked up and down by 2 back to back snow storms. never in my life have i been so happy to see monday – monday with no snow! at evil designs we pulled down a nice 31 inches of cold mess which of course knocked out our power and cable hence the no posts. it was like snomageddon here. here are some photos below from the aftermath..

since we had no power, we decided to take a rzr ride up to cragsmoor. here is the beautiful chapel of the holy name. they had to at least have gotten 3.5 feet of snow. it was literally a wall of snow. as you can see the snow is up to the windows. below is a summer photo to compare to.

then we took a ride up to sams point preserve. look at that snow drift up top…i can’t even tell you how large that is.

i’d be a happy girl if this was the last storm we got this season. it was too much at once! anyway – have a happy monday.

so. snow. lots of it. we have been beaten by heavy snow. we lost power tuesday night until yesterday afternoon. not cool, and they are forecasting 20 inches through friday. i have no idea what to do with all this snow. here a pretty picture from the ride home today as the storm started.

Hey guys – been really crazy these past few days so sorry for the absence. Heres a cool image to tide you over until i can get a moment to breathe.

for those of you that are local to the shawangunk region, you may be familiar (or not) with a road named lundy. we try and make a trip down it once and a while, snow or no snow. there are many stories around the road itself and potterville (a ghost town it passes through -true locals say its haunted, there definitely is an eerie vibe). its a really beautiful drive, 4 wheel drive is best of course as this road is only maintained to a certain point. the photo below is of an abandoned house on lundy…actually one of the only remaining houses (other than the lundy estate itself) on the far side going towards the catskill park.

just thought to share this beauty with you. kind of spooky, but stunning none the less.
